The Venice Project becomes …. Joost
The guys behind the VoIP success story - Skype - are involved in creating a new project, one in which they profess will change the way we watch TV. Originally names “The Venice Project” has now relaunched with the new name Joost.
According to their website:
“Joostâ„¢ is a new way to watch TV, free of the schedules and restrictions that come with traditional television. Combining the best of TV with the best of the internet, Joostâ„¢ gives you more control and freedom than ever before - control over what you watch, and freedom to watch it whenever you like. We’re providing a platform for the best television content on the planet - a platform that will bring you the biggest and best shows from the TV studios, as well as the specialist programs created by professionals and enthusiasts. It’s all overlaid with a raft of nifty features that help you find the shows you love, watch and chat with friends, and even create your own TV channels.”
I tried to sign up for a beta test, but you are put on a list of I’m sure thousands to get a first look at their new application. After signing up, they suggest another way for getting a look, which is to get an invitation from an already selected beta tester. Well if there are any of you out there - I’d be a willing receiver of an invitation donation! ![]()

I’m a beta tester Tom but they’re very mean with the invitation tokens. So far I’ve only been give 4 but I’ll put you on the list anyway.
Ah thanks a million James! Appreciate it!
What you think so far? Will it really change the way we watch tv?
Absolutely. On 29th December I posted my predictions for 2007. Number 1 was “2007 will belong to The Venice Project. I might have said VP will be the new YouTube but, as I’ve emphasized before, it’s a different beast entirely. Following a decade of IPTV hype it will finally become a reality.”
I hope that I am not being intrusive to ask for an invite ion your BLOG, but you will be happy to know that your BLOG came up on Google about 6 down when I searched joost invite tokens so you are getting exposure. If after Tom gets a Invite I sure would love one. I have the Slingbox and want to compare, want to see if Sling is in a bit of trouble, and while thgis will be a bit different, could really hurt them down the line. send invite to salesdept AT comcast DOT net.
Once again, I hope this isnt rude.
Thanks alot Tom
