I don’t usually do this, but since someone else is blogging about a (so far) successful campaign that we were involved in, I thought “what the heck?”.
So here it is - Blue Sky Mortgages Ireland - Number 2 on Google.ie for “Mortgages”. Now if I’m honest, I’m not 100% convinced the latest Google SERPs are going to last that long - so while it’s there, lets talk about it!
I’ve talked before about the importance of a web designers role in the proper preparation for search engines when designing a website and to be honest our job would not have been easy if it wasn’t for the work of David Behan.
David designed the site perfectly, not only from look and feel, but also from it’s preparation for the search engines. If every site was designed in this way, we wouldn’t have much work!
Of course there was always the consultation and strategising, but the on-site work was mostly already done. So well done David, we need a few more like you in the industry! ![]()

Looks like we make a good team Tom.
Nice SERP. I hate to say though, I’d wait a while before popping the champagne, because I’m pretty sure that the latest update will be tweaked quite a bit due to quality issues. A lot of SERPs are now very poor.
Of course now we’ll all be disecting your link building
@ David - we sure do
@ Richard - yep I agree, as I mention above, I’m not convinced these SERPs will hang around for long. But it’s a good indication of the progress of the site to date.
In relation to “link building”, yeah we were a bit demoted there on that front, I’d like to think we did a bit more than that!
No champagne has been popped but I did fear that the next day after the post went up that they’d be gone again. We’ll have to keep an eye on it to see how it fairs out.
Yeah, sorry Tom if you felt I demoted what you did for Blue Sky - I actually rang you before it went live to check that bit but nobody there. Amended anyway but let me know if you want me to change it
@ David - only joking with you David!
Shocked you couldn’t get me though. /slaps for darren for missing the call!
Well as expected - the SERP is gone, but we have managed to get to the first page for “Mortgages Ireland” finally!
