I’ve been a parent for just over 22 months now and I’m certainly no expert on the subject. The amount of knowledge I have gained in the past 2 years sometimes amazes me. But I’m still amazed when I see parents that act more immature than their kids.

You know the ones; the parents that have their kids in a creche 5 days a week, but only work for 3 or 4 of those and don’t think they should spend the extra time with their child. Or those parents that let their kids jump around in the back of the car without seat-belts, just to get an easy life. And then of course, those parents that have little manners and are happy that their own kids don’t have any either.

But it’s parents like this that really make me sick… This message was posted on a forum in the UK (http://short.ie/37w2sp) by a so called father:

“Is it just me, or does anyone else think the new woman presenter on Cbeebies (Cerrie Burnell) may scare the kids because of her disability?

I didn’t want to let my children watch the filler bits on the bedtime hour last night because I know it would have played on my eldest daughter’s mind and possibly caused sleep problems.”

It’s no wonder the youth of today are the way they are. A so called adult can’t let his children watch a TV program because they might see a lady with a disability.

I personally grew up with a great aunt and uncle who were disabled and when we were kids, we thought absolutely nothing of it and it’s probably why I would be so at ease with integrating with this community. On the other hand, if I had never seen this before, I would probably feel very uneasy about approaching or even chatting to someone with a disability.

Parents that try and hide the real world from their kids should be banned from having kids until they themselves have grown up…
