Stone Sour - Come What(ever) May

Just got a listen to Stone Sours‘ much anticipated new album, Come What(ever) May. I have to admit I quite like the album, although it’s not nearly as heavy as their first album.

Corey Taylor always said his vision for Stone Sour was to do music he couldn’t do with Slipknot. I think he has definitely achieved this with this album.

The album is much more radio friendly, with at least 3 songs capable of being played on mainstream radio. For those (like myself) that didn’t want to hear that, don’t worry, there are still many very heavy tunes to break your neck rocking to them!!!

I think they will do pretty well with this album!!

Bullet for my Valentine

These young welsh lads have released another single from their album The Poison titled “Tears Don’t Fall”.

Although I really like this track, I’m still unsure as to what market these guys are trying to penetrate. The songs they have released so for have been very “pop-ie”, yet the album contains some very heavy tunes that I just can’t see the people that buy their singles (if any do) enjoying their album.

None the less, I think they are pretty good - but it’s not good enough to be something I would have in my car…. :)

MUSE - Black Holes And Revelations

Just got my hand on this album today. Initial thoughts are that it’s as good, if not better than their debut album! It needs a bit more time from me to give it a proper evaluation.

New Music

Music is my passion and I love to hear new music. So I have decided to try and review a new album every month, to give you my take on the latest and greatest music available to us. Let’s see how it goes! If anyone thinks my reviews are good and would like me to review an album of their choice, please send me onn the details and I will have a listen!

You will probably notice that my personal taste in music is pretty diverse, however some of my favourite music is more on the heavy side. But don’t let this put you off, I have been known to have a few pop albums in my collection!

So to get this first review out of the way, I will start with a band that I never thought I’d like but have really enjoyed listening to their album over the past month.

The band, in their early 20’s (the lead singer, Luke Pritchard is in 19) hail from Brighton. You can instantly here the brummie accident in Lukes voice that sounds like a poor lost child trying to make money on Grafton street. He hasn’t got the greatest voice in the world, but it suits their sound nicely.

The album is made to SOUND very indie and by the I mean, the way in which it is recorded. From a musicians point of view (as I am), I hate most indie music because I don’t find the musicianship of most of them very inspirational. However, although the sound is very indie, they can actually play which was quite a pleasant surprise.

All in all - I really like this album, there are some very catchy songs on it that I’m sure will reach the top 10 of the UK charts. I expect these guys to do something big in the coming year.

The album Inside In/Inside Out is by The Kooks - Well worth a listen to!!!
