Watch Live Premiership Football on your TV for FREE! (with the help of a PS3 and a few other tools…)

After missing last nights sensational game between Liverpool and Arsenal, I decided I needed to sort out my entertainment system to once and for all be ready to watch live Internet football on my TV. I have to admit to watching many games online through P2p services such as TVU, Sopcast, TVants etc, as geeky as it sounds. There was no better excuse than tonights must win game between Manchester United and Portsmouth.

From past experience in streaming video files from my PC to my playstation, I knew this was the best place to start. TVersity is such a great little program that allows you to set your PC up as a media server with ease. Another great feature of TVersity is the ability to stream live Internet streams directly to your PS3. TVU Player has been my TV streaming tool of choice, simply because the quailty seems to be in most cases better than Sopcast.

All I needed to do now was figure out how to set up a mini streaming server that would take the video from TVU Player and allow me to stream it as a web address. After a little bit of searching, I found the information. Here’s a link to the forum that this post was taken from: http://forums.tversity.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=9503&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

And here’s the text ripped to save you having to move from this wonderful website……

TVUPlayer:

1) Install TVUPlayer

2) Install VLC media player

3) Open TVUPlayer and select the channel you want to stream.

4) Right click on your “VLC mediaplayer” shortcut on the desktop, chose “properties”.

5) Target:“C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe” http://localhost:8901–sout “#duplicate{dst=std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=:1234}}”

6) Go to Tversity and add the video url: mms://127.0.0.1:1234

Now you should be able to stream TVUPlayer chosen channel

SopCast:

1) Install SopCast

2) Install VLC media player

3) Open SopCast and select the channel you want to stream.

4) Right click on your “VLC mediaplayer” shortcut on the desktop, chose “properties”.

5) Target:“C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe” http://localhost:8901–sout “#duplicate{dst=std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=:1234}}”

6) Go to Tversity and add the video url: mms://127.0.0.1:1234

Now you should be able to stream SopCast chosen channel

=================================================

This didn’t work straight away for me – I had to play around with the port numbers for a while before it would.

One thing to remember is that you should choose the channel you want to stream on TVU or Sopcast before using your VLC shortcut.

From your Playstation3, go to Video, choose your media service (should be there with the TVersity Icon) and choose Video, Internet and you should see your stream. Click on it and that’s it! Happy Days!

Keane is a quitter? Surely not??

Roy Keane
Image via Wikipedia

Roy Keane, the only person in the limelight of recent times that I actually looked up to and respected, has quit his job as manager of Sunderland. Keane, never far from controversy, has disappointed me hugely in his decision.

I thought he was a man that would never give in, no matter how tough things got. But I was so wrong. And all those times I’ve stood up for him in the pubs when the country was divided over the Saipan incident.

Well I just hope he doesn’t stay out of football too long and makes up for what I’m sure he will feel in time was a bad decision.

So Ronaldo thinks he needs a new challenge

WIGAN, UNITED KINGDOM - MAY 11: Cristiano Ron...Image by Getty Images via Daylife

Ronaldo finally announced publicly yesterday that he plans to stay with Manchester United for another season at least. Commenting on his reason for wanting to leave Man United he said:

“I am going to say something here that I’ve never told anybody: if we hadn’t been European champions I probably wouldn’t have even thought about going to Madrid”.

He went on to say, “After we’d won the Champions League I felt that in five years I had helped win everything there was to win. We’d won the Premier League twice and I’d won a host of individual awards, including the best goalscorer in the Premier League, Champions League and in Europe. So I felt that maybe I needed a new challenge”.

As much as I respect anyone who aspires to be the best they possibly can at their chosen profession, the way Ronaldo handled it all leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth. The five years he talks about, were 4 years where his club, in particular manager Alex Ferguson, stood by him when everyone else thought he was a poor excuse for a footballer. Not many people rated him as a true and true footballer. Yes maybe he could dazzle with his silky skills, his football brain just didn’t seem to be there.

However, last season was his best yet – we don’t even have to mention his goals. As an all round player, he really showed how well he has matured under Alex Ferguson. But as any true professional will tell you, “you are only as good as your last performance”.

So Ronaldo may think he has nothing left to prove, but I feel he has a lot still to do. He needs to show that this season, he can be as consistent as he was in the last. Just like all the great football heros you can think of.

“Ronaldo to stay” – for another season at least

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM - APRIL 10: Cristia...

What a pity eh? I was really hoping Fergie would get rid of him after his outbursts over the summer. If the guy wants to go, kick him out and get as much money as you can for him. He had a terrible tournament this year and I would hazard a guess that he’s not going to have as good a season as he did this year, next season.

Fergie announced today that (and I quote) “I can say he will be a Manchester United player next season“. I’ve highlighted “next season”, so we can read a bit deeper into it and create some great gossip and speculation!! :)

So does this mean after his conversations with Ronaldo, he’s agreed to let him go next season? Surely Fergie isn’t gone that soft… or has he?

I can’t wait to see the reaction of the fans when he returns from his 3 month layoff, will it be too late and we’ll have forgotten all about his summer shennigans, never mind his “slave” opinion?

Another master stroke by Fergie maybe?

Ronaldo has got to go

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM - MAY 13: Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United celebrate winning the Premiership title at the end of the Barclays Premiership match between Manchester United and West Ham United at Old Trafford on May 13, 2007 in Manchester, England. In 2006 I was disappointed that Ferguson decided to keep Cristiano Ronaldo at United. Even more so after his disgusting back stabbing of his club team mate, Wayne Rooney, in the World Cup.

Yet again, Ferguson is running to the players side to try and convince him to stay after he announced yesterday that he would love to move to Real Madrid, if they coughed up United‘s asking price.

God Fergie, let him go! He’s an arrogant, immature, cocky little fecker! Yes we put up with Cantona, but he still loved United, he didn’t want to leave. Surely with your years of experience you can see that he’s a player that just thinks of himself and not the club, which you’ve always said is bigger than any player!!???

Let him go – even after his mind blowing form this season, I’d be happy to see the back of him!
