JobFit.ie – Free Training Programme for the Unemployed

This is another shameless plug of a client who I think is worthy of a mention. We don’t have any affiliation with this site, but think it’s a really good initiative that really needs to be mentioned to those who may benefit from it.

JobFit is a free 13-week programme of training for unemployed people to help them improve their skills and find a job. The training programme is suitable for anyone who has been unemployed and receiving social welfare payments for a period of 3 months or more and is qualified to junior cert level or below.

As part of the programme, attendees will gain recognised qualifications, work placements for on-the-job experience and tips on how to find work.

JobFit is funded by the Labour Market Activation Fund of the Department of Education and Skills, delivered by TBG Learning in partnership with National Learning Network.

Department of Social Protection

I only heard today that the Department of Social Welfare has been renamed the Department of Social Protection. Seriously, what kind of a name is that?

Who made this wonderful executive decision?

It’s hard to take anyone, especially the people that run our country serious when even the most basic things are overlooked.

Because, if you want to access the newly named departments website, you must still visit www.welfare.ie – this could mean, it will be quite sometime before we all start addressing them by their newly found name.

Unfortunately for them, it doesn’t look like they will be changing to the most obvious choice of www.protection.ie anytime soon, as it appears someone else has got that name before them!

I’m really looking forward to seeing what new inventiveĀ domain name they will come up with next… not…
